Week Five Assignment, Part 2 Update Vita
Please
reviews his or her vita, revises it where appropriate and submits it, and describes
the revisions and changes in the Vita since EDLD 5396 in the space below:
Having been an
administrator for many years and obtained jobs over the course of my career, I
was familiar with the resume development and presentation protocols. This course introduced me to the next level
of development, the vita.
A vita really does embody the “life” of a particular
person. You are summarizing what you’ve
done on your personal educational journey.
I was pleased to see how many things I had accomplished over the
years.
It is still a bit hard for me to believe that we are at the
end of our courses for the superintendent certification program at Lamar University . It has been a challenge but well worth
it. As I submit this final vita, please
note the following changes since it was first submitted in EDLD 5396:
1) Lamar Principal
Certification
Completed
2) Skills: Budget Development Experience
3) Professional
Teaching and Administrative Experience:
Facilitated Advanc-Ed District Accreditation for 8 Schools and District
4) Accomplishments: Graduation Rate of 96%

Conference
Reminder
- Scheduling a Conference with the District Site Supervisor to review the
SISE
Please
schedule a conference with your District Site Supervisor before the end of Week
5 to review the Supervisor’s SISE (Superintendent/Supervisor Internship
Summative Evaluation). Following the conference, please do the following:
Post
your reflection on lessons learned from the SISE Conference and comment on at
least two other students’ reflections on their SISE.
I met with Mr. Hooker, superintendent to review the process
for the final evaluation and to discuss what has taken place over the course of
the past months. I have been very
fortunate to work with Mr. Hooker. We
have met almost daily to discuss the superintendency. He has provided opportunity after opportunity
for me to participate in new experiences.
I am very grateful.
As we began looking at my experience, it was clear that an
area I should focus my efforts on was facilities management. As he pointed out, it is not a weakness; it
is just an area that I need to increase my knowledge and understanding. Mr. Hooker has started work on two building
projects in our district. He offered to
include me in the coming months in order to gain such experience. Our district is also in the process of
redesigning and upgrading sports facilities.
Within the next two years we will take a referendum before the voters to
address facility needs at our High School.
For me, it is a happy coincidence that our district needs will serve to
grow my personal insights and experience.
As we revisited all of the domains and competencies, we could
pinpoint areas of growth. For example, I
am confident that I have moved my focus from a particular area, curriculum, to
a systems view. Being superintendent
requires the individual to broaden the scope of focus. I have also learned how the superintendent
works with stakeholders to develop and implement district goals based upon the
district’s vision and mission.
I am going to continue to work to develop the skills to
navigate the political landscape. I
focused my three year professional development plan on just this topic. I will be working with our school board and
community stakeholders to identify trends, policies and legislation that will
impact our students and schools. I will
use this information to forecast possible scenarios. We will use such discussions to make
recommendations for future plans, actions, and program implementation.
This whole experience has been professionally enriching and
personally appreciated.
